![]() In the Second War, Gul'dan raised up a part of Suramar from the seafloor, the ruins of Temple of Elune or as it is called now, the Tomb of Sargeras. Over those thousands of years they became addicted to the dark energies of their fount or power – the Nightwell, and evolved into Nightborne. The survivor night elves lived under this massive barrier for millennia, believing that the world outside Suramar City had been completely destroyed. A small part, however, remained intact thanks to the Highborne, who crafted a magical shield around a section of the city. At the end of the war, the Great Sundering blasted almost the whole city to the bottom of the sea. ![]() During the War of the Ancients, the city was under siege by the Burning Legion and used for undead experiments by the nathrezim (which brought the Scourge to the world thousands of years later). Thousands of years ago the inhabitants of Suramar, the Highborne built a complete network of tunnel system beneath the city and the whole zone to harvest the arcane power. The whole zone lies above ancient Ley lines that contains vast, unending arcane energy. It was the hometown of many famous characters, such as Illidan and Malfurion Stormrage, Maiev & Jarod Shadowsong and Tyrande Whisperwind. Once you receive the distress-signal from the Arcane Anomaly in the next quest, Khadgar opens a portal to Suramar and your long journey can finally begin.īesides Zin-Azshari – the capital city of the night elves, Suramar was probably the second greatest city of their race. You can either accept the Suramar introductory quest Khadgar's Discovery from there or you can visit the new Dalaran where an alternative version of the quest will be offered automatically. As soon as your character hit level 110, your Dungeon Guide icon is starting to flash. You can still explore the zone, kill mobs, or even collect Ancient Mana (from gathering) on lower levels but you can't do any quests. Unlike other Legion zones Suramar is exclusive to level 110 characters. It is clear for now, that the hardest nut to crack will be the Nighthold, where Gul'dan and his foes do everything they can to summon Sargeras into the world. The Nightfallen rebellion and the elven races of Azeroth must stand shoulder to shoulder to purge the demon existence from the city. In Patch 7.1 the story of Suramar continues, players take major roles in recapturing Suramar City. You'll also have to oppose the Nightborne forces loyal to Grand Magistrix Elisande, the leader of the city, who made a wrong decision and allowed the Burning Legion to set foot in the city just recently. Stepping into the story, players will take a role on the side of the exiled Nightfallen and help them to rout out the demons from Suramar City. On top of that, Suramar has a densely populated city with a brilliant story about the strange alliance between friendly elves and mean demons. There are fallen night elves, legion creatures, ettins, naga, wide variety of animals, vrykul, withered and even murlocs. Every corner hides a secret, the diversity of area types is outstanding.
